Seven Cuban baseball players were declared free agents

Seven Cuban baseball players were declared free agents by the Major League Baseball (MLB) Commissioner’s Office, which will allow them, from now on, to carry out negotiations, as well as possible signings, with any organization in the United States.

This was reported by the journalist specialized in sports matters, Francys Romero, noting that some of these Cuban baseball players “will be able to sign as soon as the next international signing period begins,” whose date is January 15.

The players on this list are: Yordy Magdariaga, Juan Antonio Álvarez, Denilson Águila, Juan Raúl Cruz, Pablo Salgado, Alexey Lumpuy and, finally, Maikel Yordan Molina.

“Tango Madgariaga and Águila are two skilled shortstops with a lot of protection on the market. Magdariaga is from Matanzas, he is 6’3 tall and belongs to the Academy”said Francys Romero in her report.

Meanwhile, Juan Álvarez is visible as an “interesting hitter” who also has the ability to stand on both sides of the plate, and has power and contact, skills that could take him sooner rather than later to the Big Top.

In the case of Juan Raúl Cruz, he also has power and comes from playing the National Championship in the under-18 category on the island, just like Lumpuy.

Salgado has experience in three National Series with the Guantánamo province team, and in the last one, he posted 18 games, with a 3-11 record and a 4.99 ERA.

Now, these Cuban baseball players have the possibility of fulfilling their dreams closer and closer, after having gone through the sacrifice of having to leave their own country, due to the lack of opportunities caused by the Castro dictatorship.
