After “Sad song for an asteroid”, his first preview, now Comic Sans they premiere the homonymous “Comic Sans”, a tribute to the band itself and an addictive song that we don’t stop listening to.
The San Sebastian quartet advances with a second preview of what will be their second album, and the first with which they join the BCore family (although it will be published thanks to various record labels): “We were happy and we didn’t know it”for sale March 3.
Comic Sans self-imposed the mission of implanting the Midwest emo genre in our country, with which they could form a national scene together with groups with whom they have common ground such as Cala Vento, Rococo, Biela, Boys Kissing Boys. llacuna or even Yawners. Hence, they recognize being inspired by bands like Tiny Moving Parts, American Football, Mom Jeans, Marietta, Cap N’ Jazz or Modern Baseball as main references.
The new single, “Comic Sans”, claims how therapeutic it is to go out, drink and have a good time with your friends when you’ve had a problem with your girlfriend or someone you care about; and, incidentally, they wink at their own intra-history as a group by recalling an episode that mixes a failed interrail attempt to Finland and a few cans of Swedish Surströmming (the famous malodorous fermented herring).
With always urgent rhythms, layers of sharp but melodic guitars, direct vocals and atmospheres of vibrant youthful transience, Comic Sans are carving their own space between pop-punk and indie-rock. They started doing it with “Jon Lee”, her 2021 debut album; and now they confirm it with the advance singles of their continuation.
