The Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) will be the head of the UAE Team Emirates list in the second edition of the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior, which will take place on February 13, and a great star of the poster of a young event that, in its premiere in 2022, surprised by its harshness.
Pogacar, winner of two Tour de France (2020 and 2021) will open his current season in the Jaén classic, on a tour of the olive groves around Úbeda and Baeza that, if he follows the path opened in its first edition –with sections on land and many slopes–, it will give a lot to talk about.
“The Slovenian will lead a powerful UAE Team Emirates that will also line up the Belgian Tim Wellens, second classified in the first edition of the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior, in addition to other potential candidates for victory such as the Italian Alessandro Covi or the Swiss Marc Hirschi”, announced the test in a statement.
“I am very excited about my return to competition and to race again with my team,” said Tadej Pogacar. “I have followed the first races of the season on television and I have enjoyed them, however, I was also looking forward to getting into the action. It is always a pleasure to discover new races and I am looking forward to seeing what awaits me in the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior”, assessed the 24-year-old cyclist.
The Spanish coach and organizer of the event from Jaén, Pascual Momparler, was “very excited” about the presence of the Slovenian. “That Tadej Pogacar comes to the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior means two things. The first, that the Jaén Provincial Council is doing a great job to promote the province. The second is that, thanks to how we took care of the details last year, this year we have the prize of having Tadej Pogacar”, he valued.
The Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior will feature this year the participation of 17 teams from 9 countries and 3 different continents. Alongside UAE Team Emirates there will be six other UCI WorldTeams (Astana Qazaqstan, Movistar Team, Arkéa-Samsic, Cofidis, Intermarché-Circus-Wanty and Ineos Grenadiers).
