Football: Wissam Ben Yedder sentenced to nine months in prison?

Accused of defrauding the Spanish tax authorities during his time at Sevilla FC, Wissam Ben Yedder could be sentenced to nine months in prison and fined 150,000 euros, according to the Spanish press.

Wissam Ben Yedder is in the crosshairs of Spanish justice. The French striker is accused of having defrauded the tax authorities and concealed part of his income during his time at Sevilla FC between 2016 and 2019. But also of having falsified certain documents, according to the Iberian press.

If, after the opening of an investigation in January 2019, the AS Monaco player settled the situation and paid the sums claimed, plus interest (nearly 280,000 euros), to the tax administration, the public prosecutor decided not to drop the charges against the international tricolor. He faces nine months in prison and a fine of up to 150,000 euros for fraud and concealment of funds.

Wissam Ben Yedder is due to appear on Wednesday February 15 before the Seville court to answer this charge.
