The 37-year-old Congolese striker, legend of Almighty Mazembe, hangs up his crampons.
This Wednesday, Trésor Mputu confirmed his retirement from sport, during an interview with Nyota RTVa media close to TP Mazembe.
At 37, the Congolese striker will be remembered as one of the greatest players in the history of Tout-Puissant Mazembe, for whom he played almost his entire career. He thus refused to make the leap to Europe, despite the interest of several big clubs: Arsenal, Tottenham, Marseille, Nantes… but also Standard de Liège.
Mputu is, with 41 goals, the top scorer in the history of the African Club Cup. In the Congo national team, he will have scored 14 goals in 53 selections.
