Ulbing takes silver in parallel RTL, bronze for Payer

The ÖSV team got a medal right at the start of the snowboard world championships in Bakuriani/Georgia. In the women’s parallel giant slalom, Daniela Ulbing only had to admit defeat in the final to Tsubaki Miki from Japan and took silver. Bronze went to Poland’s Aleksandra Krol. Claudia Riegler and Sabine Schöffmann were eliminated in the quarter-finals.

In the men’s small final there was a red-white-red duel for bronze, in which Alexander Payer narrowly prevailed against ÖSV veteran Benjamin Karl and won his first World Cup medal. Poland’s Oskar Kwiatkowski won gold, and Dario Caviezel from Switzerland took silver. Andreas Prommegger was eliminated in the quarter-finals, while Fabian Obmann was eliminated in the round of 16.
