L’UCPA Sport Stationa massive five-story sports complex built in the heart of the new Brazza district in Bordeauxmust open its doors to the public the 13th of 2023.
This temple of indoor sport is a huge playground of 15,000 m2where it is possible to make fellof fitnessof squashof the’escalade… and even golf !
Indeed, the building houses approach areas (15 holes and 2 strike areas) or putting areas (24 holes, with or without drop) on the upper floors. And it is possible to play golf at several tens of meters high, on the roof of the sports complex where were created a 9-hole mini-golf course and a driving range with 12 shooting ranges.
A space designed for multisports
This is not the only originality of the place. Designed with complete transparency, the UCPA Sport Station was imagined as a space where the different sports practices – and practitioners – meet.
“We didn’t want any partitions between activities. Our thinking at the start was not to lock each discipline into silos”explains Guillaume Legaut, the director general of the UCPA.
We want to bring the multi-sport spirit to life. That people can move from one sporting activity to another. We wanted to set up this place in a way that people could talk and meet. Sport is also an opportunity to create links and conviviality.
Also, it is in the DNA of the associative group, which is above all known for organizing sports stays for young adults, very often eager to meet new people.
The other particularity of this XXL building, nestled on the right bank of Bordeaux, is precisely its location. “Gyms are often tucked away in back mall areas, away from downtown, recalls Guillaume Legaut. With this complex, we want to be part of the geography of the city and mobility. »
“Another way of experiencing the city”
The concept of the UCPA Sport Station – which is developing in other major cities in France such as Reims, Nantes or Paris – is to “create a destination like a winter sports resort or a seaside resort”, explains the patron of the association group.
We want to create stations inside the city where there are often cultural breathing spaces but few sports breathing spaces. We are convinced that sport is part of a balanced life and that these complexes are another way of experiencing the city, of getting out of the metro-work-sleep vision.
In addition to rooftop golf courses or the highest climbing route in Bordeaux with 14 meters in height (in addition to the two blocks), theUCPA Sport Station no shortage of arguments to seduce sports fans.

And after the effort, the comfort has not been forgotten with a restaurant area that extends over 350 m2with an outdoor terrace of 200 m2, for a drink with a breathtaking view of the Cité du Vin. To avoid cramps, it is important to remember to stay well hydrated. In moderation, however!
