Fifteen years of full commitment for the Glarner Tennis Club

A good start to the upcoming tennis season

The Glarner Tennis Club is starting the new club year with 221 members, including 87 juniors. For the first time at this year’s general meeting, those celebrating their anniversaries were also honored with a small present. With their fortieth anniversary, Ruth Trümpi and Esther and Kaspar Reust can look back on a particularly long and eventful club membership. In addition to the annually recurring agenda items, the junior winter training, the club championship and the Glärnisch Cup were acknowledged as highlights of the past season by the President of the Board, Daniel Hösli. An impressive and humorous review of the club championship in the form of a film created by Elsbeth Schwarzmann was well received by those present.

Fifteen years of full commitment for the Glarner Tennis Club

Already as a club member and also later, during her fifteen years as a member of the board, Maria Theresia Zweifel actively helped to shape the club life of the Glarner Tennis Club and passionately campaigned in the interests of tennis and the club members. During this time, the multiple club champion organized a wide variety of events with a lot of passion and commitment, including the popular club evenings and winter fun events. The introduction of the Marroni evening as an annual club event also came from her.
As a committed member, Maria Theresia Zweifel will be greatly missed by the Board of Directors, but of course she will remain “on the (tennis) ball” as an active member of the association. The President of the Board, Daniel Hösli, paid tribute to the services they had rendered to the applause of those present.
Eighteen-year-old Charlotte Freund from Glarus has moved up to the Executive Board. She has been playing tennis for more than ten years and will start her studies in autumn. She appreciates the club evenings, with time for tennis together and intergenerational exchange, and is now taking over the “Media & PR” resort for the Glarner Tennis Club.

Established the Glärnischcup as a successful event

With the high number of participants of 110 registrations in singles and 20 registrations in doubles, the Glärnisch Cup 2022 was an intercantonal highlight for tennis players in the canton of Glarus and the surrounding area. The preparations for this year’s traditional tournament are already in full swing at the club and especially at the head of organization Domenico Mongiovi.
The Glarner Tennis Club is taking part in the community duel for the first time this year. Interested parties are welcome on May 12th and 26th to try it out and hit the yellow felt ball over the net for themselves.
