Conveying the enthusiasm of Samurai Japan

A special exhibition “WORLDBASE BALL CLASSIC 2023 Samurai Japan’s challenge to be the best in the world” to support the Japanese national team participating in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) is being held at the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo.

In the WBC, which competes for the world’s best baseball, Japan won the championship in 2006 and 2009. A total of 140 items such as uniforms, equipment, souvenirs, materials and photos of the players who participated are introduced. In addition, we plan to collect and exhibit related materials such as winning balls at any time during the tournament.

When you step into the exhibition room, you can feel the enthusiasm and excitement of those days. I am overwhelmed by the appearance of the winning trophies of the two tournaments. The spikes of Shunsuke Watanabe, who participated in the 2006 tournament, still have confetti on the soles of his shoes that flew in the ballpark “Petco Park” (San Diego, USA) after the victory was decided.

The final of the 2009 tournament was against Korea for the fifth time in the tournament, and won the fierce battle of 10 extra innings. Coach Tatsunori Hara, who led the team, happily wrote on the winning ball, “I followed coach V2 Oh!”

Until April 23rd. Closed on March 20th, April 10th and 17th. Admission fee is 600 yen for adults. For inquiries, call 03 (3811) 3600 at the same building.
