‘Janssen can leave Antwerp with top transfer’

Antwerp can win the cup again this season if it beats KV Mechelen in the final on May 1, but above all they dream of the national title at the Bosuil. For that they will have to close a gap of ten points with leader KRC Genk. The Great Old is in good shape and has remained unbeaten in eight league matches since the defeat against Union on January 15.

It has of course also invested heavily in recent months to achieve such results. The most eye-catching transfer from Antwerp this season was undoubtedly that of Vincent Janssen. The Dutch international was taken over from the Mexican Monterrey for 5.5 million euros in the summer and that turned out to be a good move.

Janssen already scored seventeen goals and six assists in 36 games in all competitions this season. With fifteen goals, he is second in the top scorer position of the Jupiler Pro League, one goal behind the already departed Paul Onuachu. It also earned the 28-year-old a place in the Dutch World Cup selection in November and a top transfer may follow in the summer.

RETURN

At Antwerp they may not want to lose Janssen, but journalist Ekrem Konur reports that the Premier League is eyeing the striker. Janssen was already under contract with Tottenham from 2016 to 2019, but that was a letdown. Now, however, he could have another chance as two unnamed England teams are said to be closely monitoring his situation. Whether they also have a chance to snare Janssen, however, is another question. He still has a contract with Antwerp until 2026 and recently gave in Eleven Insiders that he does not intend to get started in a European top competition.
