After winning in the middle of the week against Lievin, the ASCBB moved to Cormontreuil with the hope of continuing and being able to look up, as Frédéric Domon confided after the success of his team on Wednesday evening: “ you have to chain and leave Cormontreuil behind us“. Unfortunately the people of Amiens did not succeed in winning.
While the Picard tactician was already pointing out his team’s mistakes despite the victory during the week and especially in attack, » we made the match difficult, each time we took a small advantage, we then lost it by defensive wanderings and by the rush in attack, which allows them (Liévin editor’s note) to get back into the game. » The people of Amiens repeated the same mistakes but this time with defeat as a conclusion. Precipitation in attack and difficulties in sharing the ball didn’t make the game easy for the Samarians. “I think our approach has not been good in terms of focus, rigor and understanding explains Frédéric Domon. Having to manage his players for foul problems, the coach will never have managed to put his team back in the right direction in attack: “When after barely 5 minutes we already have Jalen Jaspers and Thierno Bah two faults away, it’s complicated”.
After “Cormontreuil scored almost more than 50% of his points on free throws“, Frédéric Domon did not hesitate to describe arbitration as “incoherent“. But the ASCBB coach does not blame the refereeing, he does not hesitate to question himself: “That being said, I certainly made some bad choices.”
“This season is really a long Way of the Cross” confides Frédéric Domon. And if the coach, who intends to retire at the end of this season, does not necessarily see the end of the season as he had hoped, he doesn’t give up though : “Mathematically we are still alive, so now it’s work, work and work”. A mantra which will have to accompany the ASCBB for the remaining 6 matches if the Amiens hope to remain in N3 at the end of the 2022-2023 financial year.
