The 26th edition of the Tennis-Club L’Isle-Jourdain (TCL) Winter Open has come to an end, after 3 weeks of competition. The 2023 vintage will have made an impression with a record number of participants. They were indeed this year 425 to tread the Lislois grounds. The tournament referee, Jean Lavenere, scheduled a total of 518 matches.

Leo Poupinel (from the Tennis-Club de la Grande Motte and who won the men’s singles event) and the Aveyronnaise Kelly Ngaimoko (from Villefranche-de-Rouergue, who distinguished herself in the ladies’ singles) registered their name on the charts.

The other winners. In more than 35 years gentlemen, David Strangeway, from the Mirande Tennis-Club. In addition to 35 ladies, Elodie Piets, from the Tennis-Club de la Save. In the 3rd men’s series, Nino Mellet, from the Toulouse Tennis Stadium. In the 3rd women’s series, Laetitia Lougarre, from the Balma Tennis-Club. Special mention to the Lislois in the 4th series since Pierre Caylus and Laure Faurie win respectively in the men’s and women’s categories.

On the youth side. The under-17 event was won in the boys’ category by Alan Peytavit, from the Tennis-Club de la Save, and in the girls’ category by Alice Sala, from Colomiers US Tennis. In 13-14 years, Luis Carlos Arias and Valentine Luangkhot Bonnecaze won the tournament. In 11-12 years, the final victory is to the credit of Paul Bigot and Paola Fagnol.

Tennis news, there will also be another event looming on the horizon: on Sunday 7 May, as part of the French interclub championship, the TCL senior women’s team I will host the Monte-Carlo Country-Club team. A beautiful sight in perspective.
