Polish football fans will pass through Prague on Friday. The Poles will use the evening match between the Czech and Polish national teams to express their dissatisfaction with the Polish Football Association, which was supposed to cheat them when buying tickets. The protest started at three o’clock on the Charles Bridge and went towards the Eden Stadium.
Friday’s soccer match between Czech and Polish soccer players had an unusual prelude. Fans from Poland went on a protest march in the streets of Prague. The goal of the demonstration was to show dissatisfaction with the Polish Football Association.
The protest started at three o’clock in the afternoon at the Malostran end of Charles Bridge. From there, the fans walked all the way to the stadium in Eden, which opened for them at 18:45. The match itself is scheduled to start at 20:45.
The reason for calling the protest is an incident that took place at the beginning of February. Tickets sold out almost immediately when tickets went on sale, but many fans were not reached. They blame it on the resellers, who were supposed to resell the tickets at a higher price.
The route followed by the Poles led from the Charles Bridge through the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. People could also see the parade in Vinohrady and Staré Vršovice, before it ended its journey at the Eden Stadium.
The protest and the match itself were supervised by the police. “Several hundred police officers from the order, criminal, traffic service, anti-conflict team, special and regional order unit and, last but not least, police officers with dogs and on horses will be involved,” police spokeswoman Violeta Siřišťová said.
