Liverpool fell 3-0 against Corinthians at the Centenario Stadium

Liverpool lost 3-0 to Corinthians for the first date of group E of the Copa Libertadores, which got underway on Tuesday with Argentinos Juniors’ 1-0 win over Independiente del Valle in Buenos Aires. Fabián Balbuena at 45+1′ and Roger Guedes at 48′ first and then at 63′ contributed to the visitor’s victory.

First time

The match began with the visit handling the ball, proving to be a fast and dynamic team. However, it was a domain that was not maintained throughout the first 45′.

At minute 10 of the Corinthians match he was forced to make the first variant. Renato Augusto, in tears, withdrew feeling after a serious injury to his right knee, replaced by Maycon.

Liverpool had the first play of the match and it came at 17′, after a deflected header from Alan Medina after a good projection by Miguel Samudio.

The match began to even out and showed a black and blue player well planted on the field, more comfortable in relation to the first minutes. With more drive than precision, Jorge Bava’s team got ahead little by little and played in the rival field.

The black with the blade continued to insist and after 30 minutes he had a free kick shot through Luciano Rodríguez, which hit the horizontal.

The visitor’s response and first goal situation came at 39′ with a shot from outside the area that goalkeeper Sebastián Britos very well avoided, sending the ball to the corner kick. The play came after an error by Gonzalo Pérez in the clearance.

During a large part of the first half, the black-and-blue outplayed the visitor, who couldn’t make 2 passes in a row, and did well to open the scoring.

Juan Izquierdo completed a great first half, cutting off each Brazilian attack with several important closures. In attack, Luciano Rodríguez was the most interesting, constantly creating danger in the rival defense. Samudio projected from the left and was another of the local weapons.

In the discount came the unexpected. A corner kick, poorly called, by Fágner that Fabián Balbuena defined with a header placed the opening of the score in favor of Corinthians. A surprising goal for what was the process of the first half.

Second time

The local team was never able to get into the game and hurt their rival during the second half, since Timão remained orderly and played a great second half defensively.
Only at 78′ Gastón Martirena, from a free kick, generated the clearest situation for the Bava team in the complement.

The Brazilian cast continued to attack and forgave the Montevideo club.

Roger Guedes had the chance to convert his third individual goal, when at 81′ he took a shot from outside the area that passed close by.
