Per Simone Fontecchio it’s time to put in archive his first season in the NBA. The Italian performed well especially in the second part of the regular season in which he also has found a career high 26 points in March, in the match lost against the Milwaukee Bucks. Fontecchio also had to resist the decisions of coach Hardy who – on several occasions – completely benched the player, not letting him enter the field on several occasions, despite his good physical condition.
Fontecchio’s first NBA season, the words of the Italian
In a long interview with Sky Sport NBA, Fontecchio nevertheless gave himself enough marks in his first season in the League, with the awareness of being able to do much more: “What grade do I give? I would say a 6, because it was definitely not great anyway. I could have done much better, above all I had a month in which I didn’t do well at all and I wasn’t consistent, but I also know that it wasn’t easy in the first year. I had good performances, I have to try to improve next year in terms of continuity and I will improve for this”.
So, it went to rattle off the relationship with coach Hardythe one who decided to deploy Fontecchio with more continuity in the second part of the regular season with Utah struggling until the final week to try and take a playoff berth: “Will has an excellent relationship with everyone within the team: despite being young he already has a lot of experience behind him, he is a person who interfaces very well with everyone and always brings positivity, creating an excellent environment within the team. He asks me to always be aggressive, he blindly trusts my shot and what I can give to the team by shooting a lot and having good percentages. He simply asks me to defend hard and to shoot when I am free ”.
