Il judo blue is confirmed in excellent form and continues to churn out young talents for an ever brighter future in this discipline. They were made last year three firsts – regarding the total number of podiums – in as many youth events: at the Cadet World Championships in Sarajevo, at the Junior World Championships in Guayaquil, and at the Junior European Championships in Prague, where the historical record of medals for the Bel Paese was broken. Precisely in this last event, an athlete on the launch pad stood out (conquering the continental gold) in the category of -100 kg: We are talking about Daniel welcome.
Among other things, we are talking about a category where historically Italy has always struggled to emerge, even if Gennaro Pirelli has recently achieved sensational results. Born on 18 March 2002, the Lazio player started with this discipline by attending the prestigious club Banzai Curtain Romebut from July 2021 he left the Capitoline association and was registered for the Golden flames, the sports center of the State Police. As we all know, enrollment in a State Corps marks an important step in the career of an athlete and sanctions his definitive growth.
Belonging to the junior national team, led by the coaching staff made up of his father Gianluca and by Salvatore Ferro and Vito Zoccowho have been able to create a cohesive group, from this season Daniele is also participating in the first competitions of the senior category, to try to “build” a ranking in the category: he is currently in 101st place in the world ranking list with 268 points (thanks also to the fifth place in the Junior World Championships in Guayaquil 2022, an event that delivers points for the senior rankings).
Il track record international of the 21 year old is already very respectable despite his young age. Starting as a cadet in 2017, where he won the European Cup Cadets of Fuengirola (in the -81 kg), passing through the successes of 2019, again as a cadet, but in the -90 kg, where the silver at the EYOFs in Baku stands out, the bronze at the European Championships in Warsaw and three victories in the European Cup Cadets (Follonica, Fuengirola and Coimbra), up to the podiums at the end of 2021 and 2022 in the Junior European Cup (after the break due to the Covid pandemic, and in the -100 kg category) , in addition to the aforementioned junior continental gold by beating the strong Polish Michal Jedrzejewski in the final act and, precisely, the fifth place of the Junior World Championships in Guayaquil.
Accogli has always shown that he is a true warrior, such as when in 2017 an inward dislocation of the sternoclavicular grazed his left anonymous vein, and a very delicate surgery was necessary, from which the Roman recovered by returning stronger than before .
All these performances have convinced the insiders to include him among the candidates for the “Italian Sportrait Awards” award, in the “Top junior men” category for the 2022 season. Now all that remains is to work hard, to try to enter through the ranking among the blue names who will fight for the olympic passboth for Paris 2024 (even if Gennaro Pirelli seems to exclude him from the fight for now) that for los angeles 2028. The future belongs to him.
