The Dutch Demi Vollering achieved the hat-trick in the Ardennes classics by winning Liège-Bastogne-Liège women on Sunday. A week after winning the Amstel Gold Race and four days after her victory in the Flèche Wallonne, the rider from the SD Worx team sprinted ahead of the Italian Elisa Longo Borgini with whom she had escaped about ten kilometers from the finish.
She becomes the second athlete in history to achieve this hat-trick after the one achieved in 2017 by her compatriot Anna van der Breggen who is now her sports director at SD Worx.
