Three youngest of the Dojo du Couserans took part in the regional criterium of their category in Toulouse. Mihaëla Niculaï (+63 kg) and Mathyss Sormain (+66 kg) and Eden Sidaner (- 28 kg) passed the various qualifying competitions to access this great sporting event bringing together more than 500 clubs.
Mihaëla Niculaï achieved an exemplary career by winning first place. She left no opportunity to her opponents with four fights won before the end of regulation time by ippon. In the final she found herself facing the opponent who had beaten her in the final of the interdepartmental criterium. The Couserannaise applied the advice of her teacher to bring down her rival and win the regional title.
Two revenges of the departmental criterion
Mathis Sormain, meanwhile, had a great competition. In the elimination pools, he won his first fight by ippon but lost the second fight the same way. He finished second in the pool and managed to qualify in the draw. In the final stages, Mathis gave everything. He won the quarter-finals. In the semifinals he eliminated an opponent of 100 kg by ippon. Like Mihaëla, he found himself in the final once again confronted with the opponent who had beaten him during the interdepartmental criterium. Mathyss fought valiantly but his opponent was technically stronger. Mathyss lost, so he finished second in this regional criterium.
In less than 28 kg, Eden Sidaner won one out of three fights in the elimination rounds. This result did not allow him to reach the final table. Eden still worked well but his opponents, more experienced, blocked him.
The Couserans Dojo congratulates all of its young fighters for their results and for their sporting involvement.
