Draft NFL 2023: the choices of the 5th round

136 – Jacksonville Jaguars : Yasir Abdullah – LB – Louisville

The Jaguars start Round 5 with a pure pass rusher that can perform well on coverage.

137 – Washington Commanders (trade with the Buffalo Bills): KJ Henry – EDGE – Clemson

After Myles Murphy and Bryan Breese, KJ Henry is the third Clemson defensive lineman to be called up in this Draft. He’ll bolster Washington’s defensive line, which could lose Chase Young and Montez Sweat after the 2023 season ends.

138 – Indianapolis Colts : Darius Rush – CB – South Carolina

Projected earlier in this Draft, Darius Rush is going to the side of the Colts. He will form a good cornerback duo with the recent drafted Julius Brents.

139 – Arizona Cardinals : Clayton Tune – QB – Houston

A quarterback arrives from the Arizona side to be Kyler Murray’s understudy. Clayton Tune is a passer whose accuracy can be erratic, but has good mobility.

140 – Cleveland Browns : Dorian Thompson-Robinson – QB – UCLA

Another quarterback leaving in this round with Dorian Thompson-Robinson on the Browns side. The player with a double threat profile from UCLA will therefore be a candidate to be DeShaun Watson’s main understudy.

141 – Minnesota Vikings (trade with the Indianapolis Colts): Jaquelin Roy – DT – LSU

Reinforcement on the defensive line on the Minnesota side with a solid player against the run.

142 – Cleveland Browns : Cameron Mitchell – CB – Northwestern

After a quarterback, head to defense for the Browns with a player who will bring versatility to the rotation of the Ohio franchise’s second defensive curtain.

143 – New York Jets : Israel Abanikanda – RB – Pittsburgh

Physical running back, with good game vision and reception skills, Israel Abanikanda will strengthen the Jets running committee.

144 – New England Patriots (exchange with the Las Vegas Raiders): Atonio Mafi – OL – UCLA

Another Patriots offensive lineman. He is the second UCLA offensive lineman named after Jon Gaines, who left for the Cardinals.

Another quarterback leaving in this round with the selection of Sean Clifford by the Packers. An old-school quarterback who played a lot in college, but whose potential can be questioned.

A former star in high school, he never got to show his potential in Florida. The receiver will add depth to a quality position with the Bills.

A player with a certain leaderhsip, SirVocea Dennis is an aggressive player who will bring new blood to the position of linebacker in Florida.

154 – Seattle Seahawks: Olympique – OL – Michigan

An experienced player, the Michigan player is ready for the NFL to become a long-term starting center for the Seahawks.

155 – San Francisco 49ers: Darrell Luter Jr. . – CB – South Alabama

To replace Emmanuel Moseley, the 49ers choose Darrell Luter Jr., a physical player who specializes in man-to-man coverage.

156 – Los Angeles Chargers: Jordan McFadden – OL – Clemson

160 – Jacksonville Jaguars : Antonio Johnson – S – Texas A&M

The fall for one of the most popular players in the safety position ends there. Antonio Johnson may be paying for Texas A&M’s bad season to only be chosen in the 5th round. He remains a player with great potential and interesting on the cover.

161 – Los Angeles Rams : Nick Hampton – EDGE – Appalachian State

Author of 2 very good last seasons with the Mountaineers, the pass rusher arrives in a workforce where he will have responsibilities quickly to put pressure on the opposing offensive players.

162 – Indianapolis Colts : Will Mallory – TE – Miami (FL)

The Colts choose a slender and physical target to complement Jelani Woods.

163 – Cincinnati Bengals : Chase Brown – RB – Illinois

Author of a magnificent season in 2022, endowed with good reception skills, Sydney’s twin brother is in turn drafted from the side of the Bengals.

164-Minnesota Vikings: Jarn Hall-QB-BYU

Could be Kirk Cousins’ successor as Vikings quarterback. Jaren Hall has good game vision and a good arm, especially in throwing timing.

165 – Chicago Bears : Terell Smith – CB – Minnesota

Chicago takes a slender player, but who lacks fluidity despite a good size in a position needed on the Bears side.

166 – Kansas City Chiefs : BJ Thompson – LB – Stephen F. Austin State

172 – New York Giants : Eric Gray – RB – Oklahoma

Productive in 2022 with the Sooners, Eric Gray will strengthen the runners committee at the Giants. Able to receive and block well, he could put pressure on Saquon Barkley.

173 – San Francisco 49ers : Robert Beal Jr. – EDGE – Georgia

Not the most telentious but not the most useless of the front sevenof Georgia, Robert Beal Jr. will bring his pass rush qualities to the already well-stocked 49ers defensive line.

174 – Los Angeles Rams (trade with Houston Texans): Warren McClendon – OT – Georgia

Another Georgia player is coming to another NFC West team. Warren McClendon may not be the most powerful, but he’s still a solid tackle who was part of a roster that was a two-time college champion at right tackle.

175 – Los Angeles Rams (trade with the Tampa Bay Buccanneers): Davis Allen – TE – Clemson

With their 3rd pick of the 5th round, the Rams give a target to Matthew Stafford. Davis Allen didn’t show off at Clemson but is still a tight end who has good receiving abilities and has the potential to be a good No. 2 tight end.

176 – Indianapolis Colts : Evan Hull – RB – Northwestern

One of the most productive players from a disappointing college in 2022 will become a complement to Jonathan Taylor. Evan Hull will bring his game vision and reception skills despite limited physicality and fluidity.

177 – Los Angeles Rams : Red Nacua – WR – BYU

Another target is coming to the Rams with BYU all-rounder Puka Nacua. A player with a good mentality, he has good athletic qualities, despite a separation ability and a path tree below average.
