Bayer 04 Leverkusen: Patrik Schick confirms the end of the season

On Thursday evening, top scorer Patrik Schick spoke up and declared his epidemic season over. “Unfortunately, the season is over for me,” wrote the Czech attacker on his Instagram channel, “but we’re working really hard on the goal of being pain-free before the last Bundesliga game and at 100 percent for the coming season.”

24 goals in preseason

Under the post, which shows pictures of Schick during training, teammates like Adam Hlozek or Odilon Kossounou also reported and expressed their support.

In 2021/22 Schick had scored 24 goals in 27 Bundesliga games, this season the 27-year-old only made 14 appearances and three goals. It’s been six months since he last started for Bayer. Persistent groin problems followed, which repeatedly threw back his left foot and brought his season, in which the Werkself were still fighting for international ranks and were in the semi-finals of the Europa League (against Schick’s former club AS Roma) to an early end.

An operation is not an issue at the moment, Managing Director Rolfes explained on Monday. Schick should return to Leverkusen at the end of the week, but not train there with the team again.
