Central American and Caribbean Games return to El Salvador after 88 years – News Coopercom

San Salvador will receive for the third time, in history, theCentral American and Caribbean Games in its XXIV edition, after having done them 1935 y 2002.

In 1935 the multi-sport event was held between the March 16 and April 5, did not count on the participation of our country. The event should have been held in 1934 but it was postponed for another year and counted on the participation ofMexico, Panama, El Salvador, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

By the year 2022, San Salvador received the Games November 19 to 30 and 38 sports disciplines were disputed. The sailing events were held in Mexico, the field hockey and racquetball events were held in Puerto Rico, and the handball events were held in the Dominican Republic.

The disciplines disputed during the games were: Athletics, badminton, basketball, handball, baseball, bowling, boxing, canoeing, cycling, diving, horse riding, fencing, soccer, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, field hockey, judo, karate, weight lifting, wrestling, synchronized swimming, swimming, speed skating, modern pentathlon, racquetball, rowing, softball, squash, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, shooting, archery, triathlon, sailing, volleyball, beach volleyball and water polo.

Finally, the Games will come to this city for the third time and will feature the staging of 38 sports and 54 disciplines that will be played between San Salvador, El Salvador and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, sub-host of the event.
