Gauff and Fernandez wish Gauff a speedy recovery.
Raducanu has been hampered by a wrist injury for some time and she also injured her ankle in her first tournament of the season in Auckland.
Raducanu tried to deal with his injuries and play regardless, but it obviously didn’t work out. Eventually, Raducanu realized that the best thing to do was to have surgery and take some time to recover.
“You could say that the last ten months have been difficult, as I have had to deal with a recurring injury to a bone in both hands. I have done my best to manage the pain and still play for most of it. this year and the end of last year by drastically reducing the training load, missing weeks of training and cutting last season short to try to heal the injury.
Unfortunately, this is not enough. I’m going to have minor surgery on both hands to fix the problem. I am disappointed to report that I will be away for the next few months during which time I will be undergoing another minor ankle procedure.
It pains me to miss the events of the summer and I have tried to play down the issues. So I thank all my fans who continued to support me while you were unaware of the facts. I can’t wait to see you all back on the pitch,” Raducanu announced.
