Mexico City.- Fortnite, the third-person shooter that got half the world dancing on social networks in the past decade, is now an official electronic sport of the Olympic Games by joining the Olympic Esports Week organized by the Olympic Esports Series (OES). , endorsed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
It will not be the classic Fortnite matches in team confrontation, it will actually be a sports shooting competition. The IOC indicated that this event will feature 12 players from the 2023 Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS), invited to compete on the world stage.
The dozen gamers will face off on a creative Fortnite island, specially designed by the International Shooting Federation (ISSF), which promotes the competition.
Olympic Esports Week will debut at the Singapore Suntec Center from June 22-25, 2023.
Tickets to attend the face-to-face event can be obtained through the event’s official website or it will be possible to view them in streaming on the Olympic Games website. The shooting competition in Fornite will be played on June 24.
Olympic Esports Week is the culmination of the OES, a global virtual and simulated sports competition created by the IOC that began on March 1 in collaboration with international federations and game publishers.
