Physical or virtual. With your feet on the ground or dangling in the air. In the sports amusement park “Sparkx” in Hasselt you can taste more than 50 sports from next week. That on an area of 3,500 square meters. Here we combine sports and entertainment.
Red Lion Thomas Briels and snowboarder Seppe Smits are already fans of the challenging simulations in Sprakx.
In the sports amusement park in Hasselt, top athletes have already had the opportunity to taste the 50 sports under one roof. Not only classic sports such as football, basketball, rowing or darts can be found there. With the help of technological feats you can jump off a cliff with a wingsuit or crawl into an F1 car.
Moving more and healthier, that is the mission of the six initiators behind Sparkx. They got their inspiration abroad, with the construction of their own “sporttainment park” they started in November 2022. The park is now ready for the general public and offers space for 330 visitors to exercise at the same time.
Every visitor can try different sports here and perhaps discover untapped talents.
“Here we combine sports and entertainment. Every visitor can try different sports here and perhaps discover untapped talents,” says Mathieu Renier, co-founder of the park.
“Sparkx wants to give people a taste of classics, possibly with a twist, but also radically new sports.”
“If people get a taste for a certain sport with us, we hope that they will also find their way to a sports club in their neighborhood to further develop that new passion.”
People with a disability are certainly welcome in the park. For example, about a quarter of the experiences are accessible to wheelchair users. In exactly one week, on May 17, the doors will open in Hasselt.
