At the Pala Principi in Porto Potenza Picena (Macerata), in a high-level competitive setting, the athletes of the Rimini Judo School participated with five Cadet athletes, winning as many medals, one gold and four bronze. The athletes of the Judo School who distinguished themselves in the competition are all under 17 and are of the Cadet class, i.e. born between 2006 and 2008, including Tommaso Cilio (-81 kilos), Elvis Demilato (-90 kilos), Fosco Marzoli (- 55 kilos), Tommaso Valentini (-90 kilos) and Leandro Valentini (-73 kilos).
The Marche Trophy was open to all regions of Italy and immediately assumed a high-level caliber due to the participation of many Judo Schools from central-southern regions including Puglia, Campania, Abruzzo, Umbria and Lazio. Even Emilia Romagna participated in the event including the Rimini Judo School trained and followed by Maestro Enrico Nanna. The pleasant surprise came from the Gold achieved by Pagano, who after only one year of practice lined up his opponents by winning two fights by ippon (ko) ranging from standing to ground fighting, thus demonstrating his skills talented and physical.
Dark cat. (-55 kilos), whose participation was in doubt until the end, due to a back contracture remedied in the previous Friday’s finishing training, he still wanted to fight and get on the tatami. Fosco demonstrated his competitive maturity, gritting his teeth and without sparing himself he faced three opponents with repeated attacks that allowed him to win the Bronze, winning two by ippon!
Too bad for Cilio, who saw the top step of the podium fade away; in fact, after winning two fights by ippon, he had to surrender to an opponent who harnessed him with a dominant grip, always putting him in trouble throughout the match and forcing him to surrender by double wazari (half a point). Valentini and Demilato Elvis in the category of (-90Kg) found difficult opponents who imposed a judo more than physical strength, forcing both to settle for third place in a dead heat.
