tvOnenews.com – Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Judo Association (PB PJSI) Maruli Simanjuntak said that competition at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia was getting tougher.
This is due to the presence of a number of naturalized athletes in the largest multi-sport event in Southeast Asia.
This condition makes Indonesian athletes have to fight extra to be the best. Maruli also appreciated the best performance of the Red and White athletes until the second day at the Chroy Changvar Convention Center, Phnom Penh, Monday (15/5/2023).
“Many naturalized players such as from Japan and Ukraine. The competition was quite tight, but our athletes also experienced a lot of improvement,” said Maruli.
Cambodia as the host is known to field a number of naturalized athletes such as Guchkov Volodymyr and Krasovki Veadyslav from Ukraine, Uno Shintaro, Yanagiha Saki, and Yasumatsu Haruka from Japan, and Cheng Dalin from China.
Competitions for the sport of judo start from Sunday (14/5/2023) to Tuesday (16/5/2023). On the first day, Indonesia managed to win a gold medal through Dewa Kadek Rama Warma Putra, who competed in the men’s 66kg class.
