In the decisive – seventh – game of the semi-finals of the Western Conference, “Stars” defeated Seattle “Kraken” 2:1 (0:0, 1:0, 0:0) at home, winning 4-3 in the series.

In Monday’s match, Finnish forward Rope Hintz and Wyatt Johnston scored for the “Stars”, while “Kraken” scored the only puck 18 seconds before the end of regular time – Denmark’s Oliver Bjorkstrand was accurate.

In the previous six games, these teams scored a total of 49 goals, however, the seventh match was a duel between two goalkeepers. “Stars” number one Jake Oettinger managed 22 shots, while Philipp Grubauer saved 26 shots in the opposite goal.

The Dallas and Las Vegas teams met in the conference finals as early as 2020, when the Stars prevailed in five games. Current Stars head coach Peter DeBoer led the Golden Knights directly from the start of 2020 to 2022, but was subsequently fired and took over the Dallas reins only last summer.

It is significant that during his career, DeBoer won all seven of the seventh games of the series. He became only the third coach in NHL history to do so with four different clubs – New Jersey Devils, San Jose Sharks, Golden Knights and Stars.

The Western Conference finals begin Friday in Las Vegas. On the other hand, the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers will compete in the finals of the Eastern Conference.
