Leo Smart seeks support to be part of the South American judo

It’s 10:30 p.m. on any given Tuesday in the oil capital. In the gym

municipal 1, the tatami smells of sweat and delivery, every day from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. judo comes to life at the Marcos Garnica Dojo.

Tuesdays are particular, because it is a meeting point for those who have been filming for years, left, returned or are just starting out in contact sports.

In front of the class is Leonardo Smart, father of a family that breathes judo. But contrary to what one might think, the head of the clan approached the classes given by Father Juan Enne in the Pietrobelli parishes at the invitation of his daughter Aldana.

From that invitation from his daughter to this present, Leo traveled all the way of judo, reaching a black belt. And a teacher -together with Antonella- at the Marcos Garnica Dojo.

Thanks to the support of the Ente Autárquico Comodoro Deportes, through Juan Manquicheo from the Municipal Methodological Cabinet, Smart was able to consecrate himself as national champion in the +100 kilos category in January of this year.

Now the challenge is South American.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WORLD

On June 27, in Ecuador, the South American Judo Tournament will take place, where Leo Smart will go on behalf of Comodoro Rivadavia together with Julio

Carez.

The fight for it began a long time ago, and Leo is not alone on the tatami and is looking for more to join the tatami.

“I am raising funds and looking for sponsors. And from the Dojo steps are being taken to add state and private support. It encourages me to go for more because there are many who push from below. Whether it is from the group of ex-soldiers of the Air Force (who never left behind the feeling of camaraderie and the group spirit that underlies beyond the uniform) to those who buy me a raffle or make their contribution to my payment market ”, he maintains he.

Smart’s commitment is always to go to the bottom. That conviction made her family breathe judo through her daughters Aldana (26), Melina (13) and Antonella (22) who studies Food Engineering at the UBA and does not neglect the tatami.

“The activity of the Dojo Marcos Garnica is free and municipal and is held from Monday to Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sometimes they ask me what motivates me, and the truth is that it is difficult to define it, because it is a whole. Getting on the tatami is a joy. First I lived it as a father accompanying Aldana to a National. And then Carlitos Vásquez and Marcelo Mamani hooked me to join the practice ”, he recalls.

From that time to the present, practical Leo, he perfected himself and was crowned champion

national. Beyond his achievements, he maintains that everything is the result of the collective effort of those who join in different ways.
