The only blue final in Shanghai in the second stage of the 2023 World Cup ends with a defeat in the shoot off. If in Shanghai Italy was forced to stop at the foot of the podium in the mixed compound, the gold medal went to the Indian duo who beat South Korea 156-155. In the men’s team event, the Netherlands celebrated, winning over Mexico 231-229, while third place went to Turkey, who beat Iran 233-224. However, Mexico manages to win the women’s final by beating South Korea 230-226, while the bronze goes to Turkey who narrowly beats Great Britain 231-230.
In the men’s individual the Indian Jawkar surprisingly beats the Dutch and number one in the world Mike Schloesser 149-148, while the third place goes to the South Korean Yang who beats the Estonian Jaatma 148-148 (10-9) in the play-off. At the top of the women’s podium is Cho Su A, who had stopped Elisa Roner during the preliminary rounds. The South Korean beat Britain’s and No. 1 Ella Gibson 146-140 in the final. Third place for Indian Avneet who beat Turkish Tomruk 147-144.
RECURVE
As for the Olympic division, Italy failed to earn a final valid for the podium. In the men’s recurve the gold was won by the Brazilian Marcus D’Almeida who manages to overcome the South Korean Oh Jin Hyek 6-4, executioner of Mauro Nespoli in the round of 16. A victory that is worth keeping in first place in the world rankings for the green and gold athlete. Bronze for the Dutch Steve Wijler who beats the Chinese Li Zhongyuan 6-2. As far as the women’s podium is concerned, however, South Korea occupies all the steps of the podium, after a double home derby: Lim Sihyeon wins the gold by beating Kang Chae Young 6-0, while Olympic champion An San gets the bronze by winning 6-2 over teammate Choi Misun.
Even in the team events it is a Korean domination: in the men’s South Korea beats China 6-2, while the bronze is won in the play-off by Japan against Spain 5-4 (28-27). The women’s podium sees South Korea on the top step again, who beat Taipei with a clear 6-0, while third place goes to China, winning 6-2 over Indonesia. Even in the mixed team, South Korea manages to get the better of China 6-2, while the bronze medal goes to Turkey, winning 5-1 over Indonesia.
