On May 6, a full-scale test was carried out, on the sidelines of the Monaco ePrix, on an electric bike on a closed circuit. An e-Bike unique in the world has achieved a speed record on the track, on the winding route of the principality, at more than 91km/h.
The Electro Tour founded by the former Kazakh cyclist Andrey Kashechkin (who notably participated in the Tour de France and the Vuelta) and Formula E organized a speed test on an electric bike without equal to date, on the track of the Monaco Grand Prix. A driver completed 3 laps of the circuit. A first warm-up lap, a fast lap and a lap of honor. The fast lap was completed in 3.38.833.
For comparison, a Formula E completes the lap in 1.31 on average.
A veritable compendium of technology, the e-Bike designed by Andrey Kashechkin required 10 years of research and development. This carbon electric bike is the lightest existing, 11kg, capable of reaching a top speed of 130km/h in a straight line – unheard of – and a power of 500watts.
The organizers want to create a new discipline in the family of electric sports. A championship for professional and amateur cyclists, on Grand Prix circuits, the Electro Tour should see the light of day in 2024, open to 12 teams of 4 riders on the basis of Championship regulations, at the opening of the races.
