“Some of my decisions have not been well understood, one day I will be able to explain myself”

Mariano Díaz said goodbye to the “dream” of playing for Real Madridshowing pride in never giving up and assuring that some of his decisions “have not been well understood”, promising explanations in the future.

“I could never imagine that this boy from Premiàthat boy who spent the day playing football in the square with Bubu, Barry, Alaji, Edu or Xavi, would end up living this dream”, Mariano began his farewell message on his official accounts on social networks.

“It was not an easy road. First La Fábrica, then the dream of the first team, the experience in Lyon and back. As if to throw in the towel, my father did not instill that in me. ‘Never give up, fight for your dreams, nothing is impossible’. Fight even in the game of your life you have to go out in the 91st minute. You never know when the reward will come, “he added.

Mariano remembered a few words from one of his referents, Raúl González, in a review of his years at Real Madrid. “I keep in my memory some nice words from Raúl on the days of my return. It was the beginning of five seasons, many difficult moments, and other very good ones. I have not enjoyed the minutes that I would have wanted, but I have tried to give my soul in each ball, break my face for this team”, he said.

“I know that some of my decisions have not been well understood. Surely one day I will be able to explain myself, but not now, now is the time to look ahead. I want to start a new stage, with all the ambition in the world,” he added.

Finally, he was proud to share so many successes with “all” the “workers, staff, physios, utilleros, doctors, cleaning, security” of the club. “It has been an honor to play with these teammates and for this fans. I will be eternally grateful to everyone: I fulfilled a dream and I did not give up. That 10-year-old Mariano would be very proud of today”, he declared.
