16 days before the start of the 3rd European Games in Kraków (Poland), the DOSB nominated 80 more athletes. This means that the entire Germany team is certain.
After a first round of nominations on May 23, the pool nominations from the sports 3×3 basketball, 7-a-side rugby, beach handball, archery, boxing, canoe racing and table tennis were dissolved in a second step. In addition, an athlete was nominated in Taekwondo.
There are 18 athletes from Lower Saxony who are assigned to the Lower Saxony Olympic Training Center:

Among others, Timo Boll and Xiaona Shan (both table tennis) as well as Michelle Kroppen and Florian Unruh (both archery) will be there. The non-Olympic sport of beach handball celebrates its premiere at the European Games – the German women are reigning European and world champions as well as World Games winners.
Thomas Weikert, DOSB President and head of delegation, says: “The European Games in Poland will be an absolute sporting highlight for Team D this year. I’m really happy that we’re coming with a strong team. We will present ourselves on site as a cohesive team and represent Germany together. I wish our athletes successful games, both athletically and personally!” A total of 287 athletes will travel to the Małopolska region of Poland as part of Team D for the European Games. Of these, 152 are women and 135 men. There are also around 140 supervisors.
Sporting importance of the European Games increases again
At the European Games, 18 of the 22 Olympic sports represented are based on quota places and ranking list points for qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. The European champions will also be determined in 12 disciplines. A total of around 7,000 athletes from all over Europe are expected in Kraków and the neighboring region. Over 12 days, they compete in 29 sports for personal bests, Olympic qualifications and European titles.
Team Germany competes in the sports of 3×3 basketball, 7-a-side rugby, badminton, beach handball, BMX freestyle, archery, boxing, breaking, fencing, judo, canoe racing, canoe slalom, karate, kickboxing, modern pentathlon, mountain biking, muaythai, Padel, shooting, ski jumping, sport climbing, synchronized swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, teqball, triathlon and diving. This means that Team D is represented in 27 of 29 sports.
Athletics takes place as part of the European Games as an independent team championship in Chorzów. The athletes of the German Athletics Association (DLV) do not travel to Poland as an official part of Team D and are therefore not nominated by the DOSB.

The prerequisite for being nominated for Team Germany is, among other things, the signing of the Team D agreement passed by the DOSB and the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) checking whether there have been any violations of doping regulations. Between the time of nomination and the start of the European Games, all team members can be tested by NADA unannounced in training and competition.
