It was one of the big excitements at the beginning of the French Open when Novak Djokovic wrote a political message about the explosive situation in Kosovo on a TV camera after his match in the first round. Kristina Mladenovic supports the Serb’s statement.

After his first-round win at Roland Garros, Djokovic wrote on a camera: “Kosovo is the heart of Serbia. Stop the violence.” In 2008, Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia and has since been recognized as a sovereign state by 100 countries. However, Serbia has never recognized Kosovo’s sovereignty.
Mladenovic, who was born in France and plays for France, has Serbian roots as her father was born in Gjilane, a town in Kosovo.
Mladenovic stands behind Djokovic
“Novak is great, he is a true role model for everyone else. I saw that. A lot of people are allowed to talk about Russia and Ukraine, everyone has an opinion, and that’s not political? On the other hand, Novak’s statement is suddenly political? ‘ Mladenovic said in an interview with the Telegraph.
And Mladenovic said directly to the content of Djokovic’s statement: “Yes, I share Novak’s point of view, Kosovo is the heart of Serbia for me too. My father comes from Gjilane, my grandmother lived there and I was there when I was a child,” Mladenovic continued, and she also commented on the semi-finals Djokovic versus Alcaraz: “Maybe that’s a little subjective, but I hope that he wins his 23rd Grand Slam title here. Alcaraz is good and he has his chance, he’s young, but Novak is more experienced and there isn’t a tournament where he isn’t a main contender for victory,” said Mladenovic.
