With great fanfare, the seventh edition of the Mazatlán Baseball Tournament-Venados held its opening ceremony this Wednesday night at the Teodoro Mariscal stadium, where 130 teams visit the port hungry for victory.
Made up of squads from 15 states of the Mexican Republic, the Mazatlán Baseball Cup 2023, gave the banner of an edition of this great baseball party in each of Venados de Mazatlán.
With the attendees already installed in their seats, the ceremony started with the Honors to the Flag, to immediately introduce the special guests, including the director of IMDEM, Fabiola Verde; Fernando Hernández, president of the Sinaloa Baseball Association, Luis Cornejo, director of the Mazatlán Baseball Tournament, and Héctor Bache, Commercial Manager of Venados de Mazatlán.
Also present were the mascots of Venados, Venny and Vennito, who to the rhythm of band music, turned on the parents in the stands with their occurrences.
Miguel Pacheco, Los Mochis baseball player, was in charge of carrying out the classic swearing-in of all the players participating in this event.
Meanwhile, the first pitch of the tournament was in charge of Faby Verde, with Fernando Hernández as catcher.
Subsequently, the attendees were able to witness a colorful fireworks festival that lit up the Mazatlan sky, to later start with the parade of all the teams through the Teodoro Mariscal pitch, to the rhythm of music by the Sinaloense Band.
Prior to the act, two inaugural matches of the tournament were held, where Mazatlán R4 beat the Academia Guerreros México-Nuevo León 16-1, and Bravos Chihuahua beat Gigantes Saltillo-Coahuila 9-1, both from the Minor Children’s category .
Starting this Thursday at 8:00 a.m., 130 teams will start the other games of day 1 of the Mazatlán Baseball Tournament, with the Mazatlán League, Club Muralla, Unidad Deportiva Benito Juárez, and the Teodoro Mariscal Stadium as venues.
