The leader of the classical basketball national team, Anete Steinberga, previously said that she will see how the course of the tournament will change in the European Championship, how she will feel physically and maybe try her hand at 3×3 basketball as well.
Right after returning from the European Championship at the Šteinberg Airport, “Riga” was not yet ready to answer the question of Latvian Television, whether 3×3 basketball could soon appear in her plans.

“I still have time to rest at home a little bit and think,” Steinberg said. “I can’t answer anything right now.”
However, the question is not only about Šteinberg – perhaps very soon we will hear some famous names in the Latvian national team, who will set their next goal in 3×3 basketball and start at the Olympic Games in Paris next year.
Earlier in June, the Latvian 3×3 women’s basketball team with Paula Mauriņa, Aneta Miķelsoni, Ieva Korzāni and Luīzi Šepti did not qualify for the final tournament in the European Cup qualification. Korzāne and Mauriņa, together with Marta Leimani and Katrīna Trankali, competed in the 3×3 basketball tournament of the European Games in Poland on Wednesday, where the participants have the opportunity to accumulate Olympic qualification points.
At the Paris Olympic Games, only eight national teams will compete in 3×3 basketball in men’s and women’s competition.
The three teams that will go to Paris will be determined in the qualification based on the country’s place in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3×3 ranking, where the individual rating points of each country’s 25 best players in FIBA-approved tournaments will be added up to November 1. Five more Olympic teams for men and women will be determined in 2024 in three qualifying tournaments.
The Paris Olympic Games in 2024 will be held from July 26 to August 11.
