Bad Dürkheim/ Limburgerhof. Last weekend, the judo sports club and the Heinrich-Heine Gymnasium Kaiserslautern (HHG) were represented at two tournaments with fighters. In both Bad Dürkheim and Limburgerhof, the young athletes gained competitive experience or fought for qualification for the Southwest German individual championships.
On Saturday, the 11th International Wine Road Cup in Bad Dürkheim was on the agenda. 13 athletes from the HHG were represented here, including ten judoka from the JSV Kaiserslautern.
In the U13 age group, Leni Volz (JSV) was the first to hit the mat. Unfortunately, she only had one strong opponent, so despite a good performance she had to settle for second place. Ben Wilhelm (JSV) achieved third place with four fights, in which he won one, and Theodor Wittek (JSV) with one defeat and three fights won in a particularly large competition group in the knockout system a strong third place.
This was followed by the U15 and U18 competitions. Laura Geiß (JSV) came fifth here. Gabi Pereskocka (JSV) won one of three fights, so she ended up in third place. Unfortunately, Maxima Zink (JSV), Noah Njonga (JSV) and Yannik Michel (TV Rodenbach) each had only one opponent, so that Noah and Maxima took first place with a win each and Yannik came second with a loss.
Lina Stark (JSV) and Andrej Müller (JSV) each showed particularly good performances in four fights against strong opponents, they were able to secure three wins each and thus second place. Michael Kistner (TV Rodenbach) was also strong, winning all four fights and taking first place.
In the U18 age group, Erika Müller (JSV) and Devin Mauser (JC Zweibrücken) competed. Erika had two opponents, both of whom she defeated and was able to secure first place. Devin also convinced with good fights, he defeated three of five opponents and thus reached second place.
All U15 judoka were able to qualify for the Southwest German U15 Individual Championships on June 24th, 2023 in Speyer. The club and coach keep their fingers crossed and wish them every success!
On Sunday, the younger years of the JSV continued at the Pfalzpokal in Limburgerhof. A total of eight young judoka in the U11 and U13 age groups started here to get a taste of competition and gain experience.
In the U11s, Ilja Müller took second place and Livian Hermann first. Livian was then able to secure second place in the U13 in strong fights, as did Theodor Wittek and Joris Junker. Adriana Puntureri took third place and Fabian Reich and Thea Clasen, who competed in their first competition, convinced with second place for Thea and third place for Fabian.
Club and trainers are happy about the lively participation in the competition and congratulate all athletes on their achievements. Keep it up!
