The Never-Ending Feud: Dennis Rodman Takes Another Jab at Larry Bird and Celtics

Dennis Rodman will make fans jump Larry Bird and the Celtics. Well, it wouldn’t be the first time, since he had already declared a long time ago – when he wore the Pistons jersey – that Bird would not have been voted MVP if he had not been white. At 62, “The Worm” still has a loose tongue and easy blasphemy. During a discussion with Gilbert Arenas on Vlad TV, Rodman didn’t like hearing his caller tell him that Larry Bird would probably beat LeBron James one-on-one. His answer :

“If Larry Bird was playing at that time, he would be in Europe. I’m just telling you what is. His game was made for the Celtics at the time, in the 80s. But with the current rules? Certainly not. I don’t don’t underestimate him, he was a great player of that era. I think the kid from Denver (Nikola Jokic, editor’s note) is much better!”.

Here, we tend to think that great players would be great players in any era because they would have adapted to it. It’s even possible that Larry Bird, with the importance of the 3-point shot, would have become even stronger if he had played in 2023…
