The representative of Guanajuato Prisca Awiti became Central American and Caribbean Champion
San Salvador, El Salvador June 25, 2023.- The representative of Guanajuato Prisca Awiti gave Mexico its first Gold in the discipline of Judo and the thirteenth so far in the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador by becoming the division champion – 63 kilograms.
The Mexican judoka showed her power from the start of the competition where she beat the Honduran Fany Oseguera with a score of 11 points to 0.
In the semifinal, Awiti knocked out the Colombian Cindy Paola Mera with whom she had a close fight and it was until minute 4 with 48 seconds when the Mexican was able to knock her opponent out of the competition through the Waza Ari technique.
In the grand final, Prisca gave a chair of intelligence against a rival she had never defeated before, the Cuban Maylín Del Toro, the judoka representing Guanajuato took the fight to the terrain that best suited her to achieve with the combination of Shido and Waza Ari techniques the win and gold medal.
With this result, the athletes from Guanajuato have so far contributed 5 medals to the Mexican delegation, one gold and 4 silver.
Tomorrow the last representative of our entity and the only one in the men’s branch, Sergio Del Sol, will enter into action in the fighting modality, division over 100 kilograms.
