Former Patriots and Ravens Quarterback Ryan Mallett Passes Away at 35 in Tragic Drowning Incident

Ryan Mallettex quarterback de los Patriots of New England, Houston and Baltimore in the past five seasons, he passed away at the age of 35 this Tuesday, June 27 as a result of drowning.

According to the Oklaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the former Arkansas quarterback apparently drowned. The news was confirmed by the area school district where he coached the White Hall High School team in his native Arkansas.

Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek said the university lost a special person and sent condolences to the friends of the now deceased.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Ryan Mallett’s family, friends and teammates,” Yurachek posted on Twitter.

Mallett came to the NFL with the Patriots when he was selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft playing in four games in 2022. In his first year he recorded a four-total pass completion for 17 yards.

The Arkansas native moved to the Texans to make six starts in nine games before moving to Baltimore where he made two starts in eight appearances.

In his number within the NFL he had 1,835 yards, completed 190 of 345 attempts, nine touchdowns and had 10 interceptions.

Before his death, New England head coach Bill Belichick said he was “extremely saddened” by the death of his player.

“My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the many people whose lives he touched,” Belichick said in a statement posted by the team on Twitter.

“Ryan was a part of us,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said in a team Twitter post. “I will always remember the love he had for his teammates and for taking advantage of and enjoying every day of soccer while he was here.”
