National basketball player Dennis Schröder has found a new club in the NBA. He will now play for the Toronto Raptors. Moritz Wagner receives a new contract with the Orlando Magic.

Schröder’s change was confirmed by his agent to the US television channel “ESPN”. Accordingly, Schröder and the Canadians agreed on a two-year contract for 26 million dollars (24 million euros). Schröder played for the Los Angeles Lakers last season.

Schröder takes the place of the departed Fred VanVleet (Houston Rockets) with the Raptors and has a good chance of being the first choice for the starting five in the future. The 29-year-old point guard’s one-year contract with the Lakers, which was worth $2.6 million and was therefore quite “small” by NBA standards, had expired. With the Californians, Schröder failed in the playoff semifinals last season due to the eventual NBA champion Denver Nuggets.

The Raptors are the sixth club Schröder has played for in the NBA, following the Atlanta Hawks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets.

Significantly more money for Moritz Wagner

Moritz Wagner worked out a new contract. The 26-year-old will remain at Orlando Magic for two more years and will continue to play alongside his brother Franz Wagner (21). This was reported by ESPN on Saturday (07/01/2023), citing Wagner’s agent Jason Glushon. The new contract is said to be worth $16 million, which would be significantly better than Wagner’s previous working paper in Orlando, which brought in $3.6 million for two years.

In the past NBA season, in which Orlando clearly missed the playoffs, Wagner averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. He is in the provisional squad of the German national team for the World Cup in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines (25 August to 10 September).
