Change of name, change of corporate image, logo change, changes in television broadcasts… Change of almost everything. LaLiga has taken advantage of EA Sports replaces the Santander as nominal sponsor of their competitions to perform a complete face lift. Although the main news is the new name of the First Division from the season that will start in a month: LaLiga EA Sports.

The announcement was made at a large event organized by LaLiga in the Madrid municipality of Tres Cantos, which was attended by its commercial partners and club presidents (among them John Laportabut not Florentino Pérez), as well as other guests.

A gala act in which it has also been announced that the Second Division will take the name of LaLiga Hypermotiona term that refers to the data capture technology used by EA Sports in the video game saga that for years was called FIFA and that from this year it will be known as EA Sports FC.

The new logo of LaLiga

Along with the name of the competitions, LaLiga has presented a renewed corporate image. This same Monday, the headquarters of the institution in Torrelaguna street in Madrid has retired the old logo, the one with the colored donut, to give way to the new one, much simpler visually and with a single color: red. Well, technically the color is “coral”.

“Today we begin a new era that will mean a revolutionary change for both Spanish football and the industry. And we do it surrounded by clubs and strategic partners like EA Sports, without whom none of this would have been possible. Together we want to offer a better football for society and a better society for our football”, stressed the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas during the act.

The sports video game development studio was already a partner of LaLiga before going one step further and also becoming a nominal ‘partner’. A new agreement that was known almost a year ago and for which the club association will receive around 30 million euros per year (the agreement is for five seasons), which are added to the other 30 that it already contributed for the use of licenses and other concepts. This quantity will increase the about 17 million provided by Santander the last seasons. Previously, it had been another Spanish bank, BBVA, which had named the competition.

Broadcast Changes

under the motto “The strength of our football”the club association has also presented the changes that will be in television broadcasts as of the 2023/24 season. All the graphics are renewed and the presence of augmented reality will be increased, as well as the live statistics superimposed on the image, with new metrics.

The LaLiga website and mobile applications will also undergo a total renovation, as well as the musical tunes associated with the rebroadcasts and the rest of the products. All of them with the objective of promoting the brand of the soccer league with the most followers in the world, according to data from the institution chaired by Javier Tebas. His calculations are that he has reached the 200 million followers during this year, compared to the 192 in the Premier League, the leader so far in that facet.

Another novelty in the coming weeks will be launching an online storein alliance with Fanatics (a ‘retail’ partner of the US NFL and NHL), of products specific to the competition and the clubs that make it up, including the official jerseys. All this with the aim of developing LaLiga as a global brand, with different subsidiaries and business units, which goes beyond its core work of organizing First and Second Division football.
