The Excitement Continues: Jai Hindley Takes Stage 5 of the Tour de France 2023

How beautiful is the Tour de France. Not enough with the surprises, falls, withdrawals and ‘bumps’ that had been signed in previous days, this Wednesday, July 5, within the framework of the fifth fraction, we witnessed an exciting day. The high mountain appeared and the attacks among the favorites as well. There, the winner of the day was Jai Hindley (Bora Hansgrohe), crossing alone.

Everything started very quiet, but aware that it was a matter of time before the race became agitated. This is how, after several attempts, a large escape was put together, which was attended by Colombians Daniel Felipe Martínez (INEOS Grenadiers), Rigoberto Urán (EF Education EasyPost), Esteban Chaves (EF Education EasyPost) and Harold Tejada ( Astana Qazaqstan) .

They went for the blow and the illusion was intact, but, at the same time, the eyes were fixed on the peloton, where the hornet’s nest was stirred. After a good job from the Jumbo Visma, where Sepp Kuss and Wout van Aert were fundamental, Jonas Vingegaard went for it, accelerated, attacked and hurt Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), who was unable to respond and stayed considerably.

The kilometers passed, the Slovenian suffered more than necessary, the Dane was quite strong and important differences were made, beyond the fact that there is still a long way to go. Of those who left at the beginning, no Colombian prospered and, added to this, Egan Bernal (INEOS Grenadiers) had a hard time and stayed. The one who ended up prevailing was Jai Hindley, champion of the Giro d’Italia 2022.
