Cameraman Pete Stendel Suffers Fractured Eye Socket After Getting Hit by Ball at Yankee Stadium

Pete Stendel, cameraman of YES Networkreceived a hard ball this wednesday in Yankee Stadium that caused the fracture in the eye socket.

Located right next to the New York Yankees dogout on the first base side, stendel was beaten on a rushing throw from rookie shortstop Gunnar Hendersonwho fired to first while trying to complete a double play in the fifth inning.

Stendel was taken to the hospital y YES said Wednesday night that He was conscious and they were running tests.. The chain updated its status Thursday saying it has a orbital fracture and that he had left the hospital.

After the victory of Yankees 6-3 vs. Baltimore Orioles, Henderson regretted the accident.

Any time a ball goes over first baseman or even a foul ball from the batter, you don’t want to see it going towards a fan. He was just in the wrong place, and I hope he’s doing well. My prayers are with him. I’m thankful for the guys who ran to him to help him.

The game was delayed about 17 minutes while the Yankees medical staff and their assistants treated Stendel. The players left the field and waited in their dugout, while Yankees y Orioles, including Henderson, watched worriedly in a silent stadium.
