Lieshout – After the youth, the seniors of Badminton Club Lieshout also ended the season with a fun activity. The badminton players explored the Laarbeek area by bicycle and then settled down in Aarle-Rixtel, where they had a pleasant get-together. With only a game night on Wednesday evening 12 July, the 2022/2023 season has come to an appropriate end.
The seniors also do more than just badminton. In addition to the weekly game evenings, the association organizes various activities to keep the club feeling intact. Not only for the youth, but also for the seniors. For that reason, the season closure has been picked up and organized again this year: this time not by a few volunteers, but by the entire board. This time the board had divided the tasks among themselves, so that there was hardly any help from more volunteers.
Good attendance
Fortunately, despite the mediocre Dutch summer weather, the turnout was very good. The badminton players gathered in the canteen of sports hall De Klumper, which the new managers were just refurbishing. That worked out well, because the start of the bike ride was overshadowed by heavy downpours with a large amount of precipitation: some members arrived at the starting point completely soaked. Some therefore decided to dry off at home first and put on dry clothes, so that the cycling tour was somewhat thinned out.
Signpost Mark
With signpost Marc Janssen in front, the route was sought, which had to be changed on the spot due to the closures due to WiSH. Also because of no fewer than four wrong cycles, the trip was a bit more surprising than expected. Finally, the cyclists and the now dried up other members came together at the yew and boxwood forest, diagonally opposite the old playground of the Heikant.
Season ended
In the cozy environment, the badminton players went through the season extensively and sat together by the campfire and ate from the snack pan. With one more game evening, the 2022/2023 season has come to an end. After a six-week summer holiday, the badminton players will pick up their rackets again on Wednesday 30 August. That is the first game night of the new season: 2023/2024.
