The 2023 edition of Roland-Garros saw Serbian Novak Djokovic win. Ahead of the Grand Slam, Philippe Caverivière to try to recover places with Amélie Mauresmo, the boss of the tournament : “She is the first director of Roland, she is above all the greatest French tennis champion in history. It is two Grand Slams, world number one 39 weeks. It was spectacular, it was generous, it was champagne. If we don’t have three, four invites to Roland after that…”
For the comedian, Roland-Garros is “his madeleine of Proust”: “The tournament period has always corresponded to my seasonal school dropout period. You will see that it will be the same for my chronicles, the level will dive. My head is no longer at work, the body is there, but the brain is bathed in pink merchandise and tennis.”
Philippe Caverivière also spoke about the spectators of the tournament: “There is slightly less tension and aggression than during a football match (…) Dangerousness and rebellion level, in the animal kingdom, the spectator of Roland-Garros, he is between the chihuahua and the sea anemone.“
