With energetic words of support and accompaniment, the Manager of the Departmental Institute of Sports and Recreation of Bolívar, Ariel Zambrano, gave the most cordial welcome to the participating teams in the third version of the international baseball tournament, Colombian Baseball Classic.
In this contest, more than 700 young baseball players will be in action in four categories, Sub 12, Sub 14, Sub 16 and Sub 18. Argentina, Aruba, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and the host Colombia, are the countries guests for this peloteril party.
The launch of the tournament was held in the events room of the Caribe Plaza shopping center, with the presence of delegates, coaches and athletes representing the visiting and local teams that will be in the sports competition until July 17.
“Without a doubt Teddy Silva confirms that dreams can be achieved when you work with dedication, perseverance, responsibility and discipline. This young leader, barely 23 years old, becomes an example for the leadership of our region, because Teddy can do it and other institutions can’t? This is how trust is generated and it is the basis for developing our sport and especially baseball. These tournaments are synonymous with the integration of the peoples and every year it takes on a higher quality. For this reason, from the Government of Bolívar through the sports institute and Fedeligas, we support this initiative and double that support, motivating it to continue to be held as one of the most important meetings in the Caribbean area in minor categories”, stated Ariel Zambrano, Manager IDERBALL.
The Colombian Baseball Classic International Tournament “Iderbol Cup-Little Freddy-Fedeligas” will be played on the stages: Abel Leal, Argemiro Bermúdez, Nuevo Bosque, Mono Judas, Campestre and Los Cerros. They have already confirmed 43 teams, of which 36 are foreigners and 7 are representatives of Colombia.
This international event that is organized by the Hot Ball Sports Club, seeking to promote the practice of baseball and at the same time build ties of friendship between the invited countries. One of the pleasant surprises is the participation of a team from Argentina in the U12 and U16 categories.
“You well know that Argentina is #1 in the world ranking of men’s softball and we are growing in the practice and development of baseball. We were just close to qualifying for the World Baseball Classic for the first time, which is why it is very important for us to participate in this type of tournament where the best Latin American countries that play baseball are,” said Eduardo Schultze, Argentine coach and manager.
