CBR Fights for Maintenance in Pre-National League and Focuses on Club Development

Maintenance was far from assured. The CBR had to fight for a long time to stay in pre-national for next season. For their first season at this level, the Roannais had a lot of ambitions. But, they quickly lost one of their best player. “He left for professional reasons, it was done at the last moment,” explains Rémy Giordano, the club’s president.

A second pre-national season

After a tough season, Kevin Forestier’s players obtained their maintenance on the last day. “We made the difference in the number of bonus points and direct confrontations. In the end, after three wins, two draws and five losses, the CBR finished in fourth place.

“Structuring the club and building the future”

Remy Giordano (President of CBR)

For next year, Rémy Giordano is not setting a performance target. Due to a rule change, there will be no relegation. “They want to create two pre-national hens”, details the club president. The objective is to use this transition season to “structure the club and build the future”. The roster of this team will remain similar, with two potential recruits to accompany them. “The best players from our other teams will be able to come and help if needed. “The goal of this structuring is to bring the CBR to National 3, in 2025. “That leaves us two years to prepare. »

Babybad, partnership with a college…

Rémy Giordano also intends to develop the other sections of the club. This would require an increase in the number of members. “This year, we had 250, the idea is to have 30 more at the start of the school year. »

A babybad section should open its doors in September. The latter will be accessible from the age of four. “We won’t be on badminton, but exercises to develop motor skills will be on the program. »

Two to three weekly sessions for college students

The badminton school will also expand. A sports section in partnership with the Jean-de-la-Fontaine college will be created. “I am a teacher there and with my colleague from EPS, we talked about it and it was done”, rejoices the one who took over the presidency of the club in 2020. The young people will benefit from two training sessions per week in a first time, before moving on to three weekly sessions. “The idea is to get closer to young people and have them become competitors if they like. »
