Sebastian Ofner is in the final of the Salzburg Open. In the final he could now meet Salzburg tennis ace Lukas Neumayer.

Sebastian Ofner has already reached the sixth final at ATP Challenger level in his great season. The 27-year-old from Styria roared into the final in Salzburg on Saturday with a 6:0,6:2 in just 51 minutes over the number 5 seeded Argentinian Juan Manuel Cerundolo. In this Ofner meets either his compatriot Lukas Neumayer or the Slovenian Blaz Rola.

Will Ofner achieve the longed-for victory at the Salzburg Open?

Ofner hopes that he can finally win a Challenger tournament again as a favorite. Because this year he was always at a disadvantage in the finals on Tenerife, in Antalya, Zadar, Prague and at the lawn tournament in Ilkley. So far Ofner has won three trophies at this level: in Astana (2018), Puerto Vallarta (2019) and Prague (2022).

A winner’s check of almost 20,000 euros awaits

Even before the final, it is clear that the protégé of Wolfgang Thiem and touring coach Stefan Rettl will at least advance to 67th place. If Austria’s currently best tennis pro wins in Salzburg, he will appear in 57th place. There are 75 ATP points for the final and 125 for the title. As a finalist, Ofner has secured prize money of 11,570 euros, on Sunday the winner’s check worth 19,650 euros (all gross).
