Fifa President Gianni Infantino was always there when the men competed against each other on the sports field at the World Cup in Qatar. It’s different at the Women’s World Cup.
Fifa President Gianni Infantino has suspended his visit to the Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia. The Swiss is currently traveling to the member states of the oceanic continental association OFC. On Friday, the 53-year-old published a video from a visit to Tahiti. The World Cup is also the tournament of all of Oceania, said Infantino. During the men’s World Cup at the end of 2022, the Swiss was omnipresent in the host country Qatar, where he also resides.
Gianni Infantino expected in Australia
Ahead of the women’s tournament, the 53-year-old made a public appearance during the opening press conference, and after the opening game in Auckland he attended more games in the other three host cities in New Zealand. Infantino is reportedly expected in Australia soon to attend more group games there.
Fifa had announced the trip to the OFC members. However, in mid-July there was still talk of “next month” in a statement.
