With two goals and four assists, Freiburg’s Noah Darvich led the German U17s as captain to the European Championship title (5:4 against France) – and immediately aroused the desires of other clubs. The fact that the offensive player has great talent is undisputed and no secret in Freiburg. This is one of the reasons why the 16-year-old skipped the U19s and was scheduled directly for the Breisgau third division team.

Without a doubt, Darvich has come a long way. Nevertheless, the sports club is also trying to slowly build up the player, as sports director Klemens Hartenbach explained to kicker weeks ago: “He’s in good hands with us. We try to accompany him, so encourage and challenge, but not burn that he can follow in the footsteps of the guys who just renewed their pro contracts.”

We don’t want to burn it.

This means Kenneth Schmidt, Noah Atubolu and Noah Weißhaupt, all three of whom have shown that with diligence and patience you can make it as a youth player in Freiburg.

“It’s a long way until we hopefully see him here in the stadium at some point,” said coach Christian Streich after the friendly against Grasshopper Zurich, where Darvich marked the end of the 6-1 win. Streich emphasized that he himself had “time and patience” and at the same time expressed the hope that the same would apply to all Freiburg talents – certainly a clear appeal to the ambitious youngster.

But he seems to have other goals. Darvich’s contract with the sports club only runs for one year – which is probably one of the reasons why the 16-year-old has already been traded by numerous well-known clubs. Now transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the top talent is about to move to FC Barcelona. Accordingly, the deal is already well advanced. The “Badische Zeitung” confirmed the report in the evening – and kicker information also coincides with it. Neither Freiburg nor the player or his family have commented so far.

The fact is: Darvich still has an ongoing contract, so there would definitely be a transfer fee. It is questionable whether Darvich is planned for the first team at FC Barcelona. In the event of a change, his future is much more likely to lie in the world-famous youth academy “La Masia”.
